Kyogle abuzz at Canberra Chook Tractor

Lismore’s Northern Star newspaper is very excited Therese Rein has installed a chicken tractor in The Lodge’s austerity (and Obama) inspired vegetable garden.

It seems the chicken tractor (a pen on wheels which can be moved around the garden to let the chickens harrow, weed and fertilise) is an invention of Kyogle’s Linda Woodrow. The photo caption is, however, a touch distressing:

Kyogle permaculture advocate and author Linda Woodrow is chuffed that Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and his family are housing their hens at The Lodge in Canberra in a relocatable chicken cook she designed.

Anyway, I think we can now safely say that Canberra is home to world’s most famous chook tractor. Who says Kevin never gives Canberra anyway (except binders thrown at head height)?

UPDATE: Uncle Joes Mobile Chook Runs have been in touch to stress that they made the specific run used at the lodge.

It is indeed one of Uncle Joe’s. I hear they also shop local for their garden plants.

Relocatable?
Can I borrow the chicken cook please? My backyard chooks aren’t laying and I want to give them a fright.
