L platers are more dangerous in NSW

I foolkishly switch from NSW green ps to the ACT ps last month and can only go 90km/h instead of the 100 I could before.
How does this work? The ACT P plates have no restrictions on them, so you can go at the speed limit.

I suspect the NSW restrictions ahve only been applied to L platers because it would be too difficult to try and make the ACT p plate system equivalent to the NSW one.

With green P’s, who can go 100km/h, do they have to go slow on the Hume, where it’s 110?

Well, according to the letter, previous information had it that the restriction didn’t apply. I’ve heard that people have had issues with police in NSW not honouring that, but they have been able to avoid fines by getting the ACT urban services involved.

So ACT learners in NSW having to stick to 80 seems to be a totally new thing.

I dunno, this sounds both expensive and dangerous.

Most of the NSW roads in these parts aren’t the best for overtaking and forcing inexperienced drivers to form a traffic obstacle strikes me as more dangerous than getting them to drive at 100 along those roads.

hence, to date, we’ve always ignored that NSW licence condition.

I’d love to know what changed.

The ACT is always trying to make their laws consistent with NSW (which makes sense). But having a disparity between Ls and Ps is silly.

I’m an advocate of also introducing A plates for Asian drivers.
