The Greens’ Shane Rattenbury is drawing attention to the furious agreement of Labor and Liberal parties in the Assembly when it comes to making it easier for poker machine operators to gouge money from people who aren’t good at maths:
Today both the Labor and Liberal Parties voted to support an increase in the number of poker machines a venue can have before they are subject to the new ATM withdrawal limit.
“Today’s vote in the Legislative Assembly again showed that the Greens are the only party committed to reducing the harms caused by problem gambling in the community.” ACT Greens MLA Shane Rattenbury said.
“It’s very disappointing that yet again both Labor and the Liberals have shown that they aren’t serious about taking action to reduce the very serious harms caused by problem gambling.
“This is the first 16-1 vote of this Assembly and it demonstrates that the Greens are the only party committed to doing what is in the community’s best interest to help those affected by problem gambling.
