Chief Minister Gallagher has announced that if she gets four more years we’ll get five more youth outreach workers!

If re-elected, ACT Labor will provide $2.5 million over four years to keep our young people on track – engaged, connected and valued as members of our community.

I agree with both of these. Labor caused the problem in the first place *but* cutting the funding to youth services. This is a throw away promise that won’t do anything worthwhile. Disappointing (lack of ) effort, Katy.

When you pedantically attack other posters (Comic and Gamer Nerd) for typographical errors in their posts, you run the risk of looking very silly, in the event you make an error in one of yours…

Don’t call her Joyless. It’s mean and adds nothing to the public debate. It’s as bad as calling someone Juliar, Mr Rabbit, or Stanhopeless.

Agree 100%.

It’s simply childish.

See my response to housebound dude, I will change up.

Fair enuff housebound, its private nickname, and your right, its a bit petty, school yard and mean. I will be more considerate in future posts.

Unbelievable language use. Re-hiring a small number of youth workers is a more appropriate turn of phrase. Labor only got rid of the services of our youth centres and their workers at the start of the year. Now the clowns are going to fund non govt agencies to do the same job. Sounds like passing the buck and avoiding any responsibility and liability for the govt. if it is such a good f_____ing idea why did they shut identical services as school started this year.

+ 1 As someone in the “machine” I know this is a cynical and insincere announcement… the only reason we are seeing this is because Joyless completely screwed up the recent reforms, stripped millions form frontline services in favour of an untested model, and totally ignored the advice of the community sector about the fall out… This minister has lost the respect of even conservative youth and family workers, and made a royal mess of things. this is band aid election crap that will at best address only the problems SHE made, and wont touch the sides of the real need out there.

Parkinson’s Law of Social Work:

It’s well known that social problems increase to occupy the total number of social workers available to deal with them.

It’s probably only being put back in place due to the elections, possibly to get the boot again once they’re over.
At least it’s good news for the residents in Chisholm?
