The National Capital Authority has announced the following parts of Lake Burley Griffin are closed to primary contact (swimming)

    — East Basin (extreme blue-green algae alert)
    — Yarralumla Beach (extreme blue-green algae alert)
    — Black Mountain Beach (extreme blue-green algae alert)
    — Tarcoola Reach, Weston Park East (extreme blue-green algae alert)
    — Yarramundi Reach, Weston Park West (extreme blue-green algae alert)
    — Lotus Bay (high blue-green algae and bacterial alert)

You can see it along the banks of pretty much all of LBG. Looks pretty nasty. Seems the blue green algae is loving all of the nutrients that were washed down from the Q-town sewage plant during the floods…
