Landscaper recommendation

We want to replace our grass with loose gravel, and replace the dead plants in our hedge. Small front area and even smaller side area. In Crace. Not up to doing it ourselves. We’d like a neat and permanent job. Any recommendations?

And believe he deserves some recognition.

If you still need someone try http://www.insit-u.com.au
They do carpentry and landscaping.

Update: Duncan answered his phone, rang me back, made a time, turned up, and was professional. The other one recommended, Dimension, invited contact via their website, but I’ve heard nothing. I have just sent a text to the 3rd recommendation, inviting him to ring on a break.

Who would work for $20 per hour these days?

Child care workers.

Plus super plus leave etc probably closer to $25 as a package. Still way below worth. Unfortuately though to pay more some one has to pay for it, be it taxpayer or parent.

After retiring I worked part-time in child care for a couple of years, initially on $19 an hour and then $20 an hour after it was topped up by the government. I did get superannuation, but it was almost all eaten up by superannuation insurance which is the default and which I didn’t know about till too late, so I have no superannuation from this. I admit I should have checked, but it was so little I was slack. Being retired with other superannuation, I had no use for this insurance at all, so all it did was take away the little money I would have got from this superannuation. So my salary from this job ended up being $19/$20 an hour – no more, as I didn’t receive the superannuation.

I should have said this was casual rates (no holiday or sick leave), so this hourly rate was higher than for workers who get sick and holiday leave.

My once beautiful garden has been neglected for a year now and the weeds have taken over. I’ve rung service garden businesses and been quoted $40-$80/hour to remove the weeds. I used to pay $20/hour cash ten years ago. Does anyone pay less than $40/hour? No tools required.

Who would work for $20 per hour these days? Going rate is $50-70 per hour. You might find a cashie with no insurance for $40. I charged $35 in 1989.

Remember your in Canberra where the average income is over $70000PA and even bus drivers earn nearly $35ph plus super, plus sickies, plus uniform, plus 6 weeks annual leave a year.

Any business earning less than $50 should go drive buses!

Ashley Wettern Services – Ashley will do anything from weeding and general clean-up all the way to landscape design and planting recommendations. He did my entire back yard landscaping(including paving), has since worked for two friends (big landscape jobs), and maintains my parent’s yard (2 hours a fortnight). He is a champion, particularly in that no job is too small, or too mucky. His number is 0408 507 292.

Thanks Jenny and Deadly.
