Lanyon Drive upgrade

Word on the Lanyon Drive job site is that both ACT and NSW Govt’s are scurrying to rectify a “mistake” made by ACT Roads on this latest bit of traffic jamming activity.

Apparently work has started without the proper planning approvals being in place. The rumour is that some of the outstanding approvals relate to enviornmental and flooding issues needing to be resolved “before” starting work. Now that would be embarresing for Mayor Stanhope given he was on site for a ceremonial sod turning back in Nov 2009 declaring that all was good to go ! Just were does he get his information from? Time for a new source I think.

How is it that ACT Roads and NSW RTA can get away with no approvals for a major project yet the poor joe building a house on his overpriced piece of the ACT is put through the wringer ?

True to form another example of inept project management by ACT Roads !

I do note that they have put bloody red arrows (filter turns) in at Sheppard St! Oh that infuriates me!

Sheppard Street should be closed at Lanyon Drive. Now those arrows can be removed.
Problem solved…Do you drive a Volvo?

I think the RTA is actually doing the work as the developer, so Roads ACT has little to do with it. I remember seeing the notices in the Times a year ago and thinking wow, ACT did well ignoring the road until NSW put their hand up to fix it!

I would suggest it wouldn’t be RTA (NSW) as the tiny bit of Lanyon they need to address has little to no easements or water crossings. It would be the ACT side as there is a creek that needs to be bridged plus a lot of drainage works. And such a rumour doesn’t surprise me. Lanyon Dr is an election spinoff. It doesn’t need dual carriageway seriously! The road flows quite well now that intersection at Monaro was completed. I do note that they have put bloody red arrows (filter turns) in at Sheppard St! Oh that infuriates me!
