Latham, Evatt, Forde and Fadden burns

The ACT Rural Fire Service Molonglo Brigade will tomorrow night, Wednesday 20 March, 2013, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn at Umbagong District Park, near Denny Street, Latham.

The burn will commence from 6.30pm to 11pm with the purpose of the burn to reduce a fire hazard.

The burn will be approximately 1.5 hectares in size. One heavy tanker, two light units, one Compressed Air Foam System tanker and 12 personnel will conduct the burn.

The ACT Handy Map grid references for the burn is J10.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.

Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) wishes to advise the public that, weather permitting, three controlled burns will be conducted tomorrow, 20 March 2013, in the suburbs of Evatt, Forde and Fadden.
