… contact the Australian Consumers Association (now CHOICE) …

CHOICE probably won’t be able to help as they don’t assist with individual complaints. I made some recent enquiries with them and found their customer service appalling. Each response I got back contained two sentences, written by someone who didn’t bother to read the details. They initially responded with a nonsensical answer in stream of words that almost resembled a “sentence”. Further enquiries met with equally rushed explanations that they can’t help and “contact the ACCC”.

If you do decide to contact CHOICE and get something better than the above, please post details 🙂

If you are looking for a good Lawyer, and not some 2nd class Barrister, try starting with this :

I have had new floors put into my unit.

The work is very bad and I will need to have the floors re-done.

Are there any good lawyer’s in Canberra that could help me with this?

Mediation has not worked.

Thankyou

Hi Sinha,

If the floor layers have genuinely performed a dreadful job, ignored or objected to your complaints, contact Fair Trading for the A.C.T. (Office of Regulatory Services – ORS) on (02) 6207 0400 and contact the Australian Consumers Association (now CHOICE) 1300 302 502 before you contact a Lawyer, email and phone them to make an appointment with your complaint.

Take photos of the work and if possible, email those photos to both departments.

Best of luck.

How many lawyers does it take to do a floor?

It depends on how thinly you slice them.
