Some people thinks it takes an expensive suit and education to master the lexicon of weasel words on which modern business rests.

To those people I present this ABC piece on Simon Woolford stepping down as Raider’s Captain in 2006.

said he now wanted to focus on his playing and business interests.

“Next year is no doubt going to be a challenging year for us and I’ve sort of set myself a goal to have my best year at the club and in order to do that, I think I needed to lighten some responsibility and workload off the field,”

Anyone want to bet on how many games Simon is even going to start next season?

lol @ Absent Diane

I join in the chorus in saying that he’ll be playing few games – whether it be because of suspension or form, only time will tell.

Croker would be a fine skipper, but something tells me their going to want to put a younger guy in the role. Speculation?

The raiders make me feel cheap

My guess is Simon will play five games, then be sidelined for a four games because of another stupid tackle!

Best year at the club eh? Jeez I hope so, the Raiders need a good year after two so so years, I’m sick to death off seeing our ‘leaders’ and the Times fawning over the ‘team for hire’ that we apparently have to have playing at Manuka every year. Lets get behind a Canberra team eh?

Well without Simon leading the show we can all be confident that the Raiders will be far more disciplined next season….

I think his contract finishes at the end of 2006. If he has aspirations of moving to another club, then he better make sure his passport is up to date….

Jason Croker for the captaincy.
