Liberals late, irrelevant, and misspelling their own names

Late yesterday (31 May) our robots informed us of a flurry of activity on the Canberra Liberals’ website between 4.40pm and 5pm.

We wondered at the time why, if it was suddenly newsworthy that Brendan Smyth was opening a “wok it up” franchise in Erindale, what exactly he’d been doing with his time for the last two and a bit years?

But closer inspection was more rewarding still!

The release published late on 31 May was for a grand opening on the morning of 28 May.

And wait for it… check out the name at the top of the release… “Brendam”? With an M?

Apparently it is too much to ask for an opposition which does very much at all with any degree of competence.

Oh seriously, is anyone surprised??? Fair point JB, what has Brendan been doing? Anyone know and since when do MLA’s (opposition or Government) open Franchises? Obviously he’s gt nothing else to do.

Ah that’s our alternative Government right their people.

Let’s get it straight, Wok It Up is not a franchise, but a wholly owned Act fast food restaurant chain. Set up by two enterprising young Canberrans and providing employment for around 60 Canbrrans.
What better could our MLAs be doing than supporting small business across the ACT.
Thanks Brendan. No matter the typo. Let’s concentrate on the big picture.

Well, given he can’t spell Smith it is no wonder he can’t spell a tricky name like ‘Brendan’…

Haha! Good point.

I’ve been spelling it wrong all these years? Brendam it is then.

Brendam Smith????

Well, given he can’t spell Smith it is no wonder he can’t spell a tricky name like ‘Brendan’…

So what does Brendam have to say about all this?

So… a typo and a fairly unimportant press release made public 2 days late is enough to write off an entire political party, but foolish spending, idiotic reforms, gross mismanagement of public assets, and demonstrated arrogance towards constituents isn’t?

That’s the Labor voter mindset, for you.

What, I’m sure we’ve all mispelled our own names in a public statement at one time or another.

Can’t wait until the next election :p

Don’t be surprised to see Ivan Milat as Shadow Minister for Tourism on the site soon!

That would be “Ivan Milat MLA – Shadow Minister for Tourism and Transport”.

You have to give them some credit – at least Zed doesn’t have Bill’s head trying to emerge out of his.

And might I suggest that the reason that Brendam’s media release appeared after the event had taken place was because of security concerns?

So that terrorists aren’t kept in the loop, President Obama doesn’t issue media alerts before he flies into Iraq or Afghanistan – so maybe that’s how Brendam is now operating? And let’s face it, Erindale does seems to have become the Baghdad or Kabul of Canberra lately, and is also a long way from the Green Zone of Civic!

I thought misspelling their name was a Labor trait?

And people on this site still view them as a credible alternative.

What an absolute rabble.
