Andrew Barr is enjoying some gamesmanship having lured the Liberals out to oppose the building of ACT Public Service offices in Gungahlin (a Labor campaign promise swimming the wrong way from the construction of the pleasure dome.

Today I gave Mr Seselja and the Canberra Liberals the chance to vote in support of our determination to move public servants to Gungahlin – and they refused.

The failure of the ACT Liberals to back the Government’s plan to accommodate ACT public servants in Gungahlin shows they have no regard for the Gungahlin community – no regard for Gungahlin businesses and no plan to create jobs in Gungahlin.

Zed’s reasons remain a mystery to us.

Johnboy have you sought comment from the LIberals to explain themselves?

If you dig a little deeper youll find that this was attached to the pleasuredome proposal which the liberals voted down. All sides support gungahlin development.

or just build light rail to the town centres and be done with it.

Better still, move the Assembly building to Gungahlin.
Northbourne etc will be fixed in no time!

A mystery to us too. And there has been no attempt by any of the Liberals to contact GCC that I am aware of with any sort of explanation.

I’m relatively sure it won’t have escaped Zed’s attention that local jobs is the single most importent thing to our view of the Gungahlin town centre as more than a dormitory town.

And in turn that is good for everyone who pays tax and rates in the ACT. The alternative to local jobs is of course spending many hundreds of millions of dollars building more roads so we can all commute out daily. So if Zed was arguing a point of expense, then he needs to look at the big picture.
