Liberals playing the credibility card

Liberals Leader Zed Seselja is taking a red hot shot at attacking the credibility of the long standing Labor Government:

ACT Labor has broken three promises in one day, showing they can’t be trusted not to triple Canberrans’ rates, ACT Opposition Leader Zed Seselja said today. Mr Seselja said voters have every right to question any commitment from ACT Labor.

“Yesterday, Andrew Barr broke his promise to the building industry that he would waive the fees he was charging to begin and complete building jobs. This was a promise that was repeated by Katy Gallagher,” Mr Seselja said.

“Today, it was revealed that Simon Corbell broke his promise to subsidise insulation costs as part of his energy efficiency program.

“ACT Labor’s broken promise to install bike racks on all ACTION buses was also exposed today.

“This is a government that simply can’t be trusted.

Its true, Labour say they’ll help the common man but then end helping business and screwing us over.

At least the liberals are honest about screwing us over, they say they’ll do it, and by god they do.

+1

Its all a crock from the Labor party….’lets make it easier for people to buy a house, wont that be GOOD!’

Only problem is if rates keep on going up to the levels suggested in their report then the average new home owner – who is finding it hard at the best of time – is going to struggle to pay them, let alone the rest of us.

What is ACT Labor trying to do? Drive all of us to live in NSW – just coming in the ACT to work and to use Canberra services? Wont that be good!

I am so over this Government. Self important, over hyped and clearly out of their depth. ANd in bed with the Greens. God help us all if they get in for another 4 years.

UCV didn’t change, but rates went up by 17%. Can’t quite see why our rates should go up to help Andrew Barr look good on stamp duty.

My rates also up by 20%+ this year, its hard for Labor to say its not happening when we all see it happening when we open that letter

Is it just me or is this a very roundabout way of promising to keep conveyance duties? And while we’re on the subject why are the Liberals so adamant that we need to keep stamp duties?

I would guess so all of us who have already paid stamp duty arent paying increased rates to subsidise those who havent. Pay it once folks. We did.

Bingo. And the idea that it’ll be cheaper to get into the housing market is valid (because stamp duty will be much lower) but you’ll repay that shortfall for the rest of your home-owning life here in Canberra, through tripled rates.

The Libs are making a lot of noise about tripled rates, and all I ever hear from the Labor party are little squeaks of ‘no we won’t!’ Not very convincing. Hell, my rates lifted 28% in the last YEAR. 300%, when compounding those increases that I’ve received in 8 years of home ownership, seems entirely plausible.
