The Liberals have put out a media release on their planned censure stunt for tomorrow. (Will we notice the resulting week long shut down of the Assembly? Will anyone cry?)
ABC Online have the story here.
I guess the real question is how long until the majority government gets stuck into the standing orders to stop Brendan obstructing them with his new-found bushfire machismo.
It’s worth remembering that Mr. Stanhope was never shy about shutting the Assembly down with censure motions when he was in the wilderness.
But at least his had some chance of success.
UPDATED: I’ll concede I may have mistaken censure for a no-confidence motion. The standing orders have the following to say on confidence (and nothing at all on censure):
Precedence to want of confidence motion
81. A motion of no confidence in the Chief Minister, of which at least one week’s notice
has been given, shall, until it is disposed of, take precedence of all other business. Such motion
must be carried by an absolute majority of the Members.∗
Nothing at all is said of censure, about which you can draw your own conclusions.
