While the treasured Lifeline Bookfair will not be going ahead as planned because of COVID-19, there is still some good news for bibliophiles with the opening of a permanent Lifeline Bookshop at the Fyshwick Niche Market.

Book Lovers Lane is filled with books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, comics and more – and it will be refreshed from Lifeline’s Bookfair stock which had over 11,250 boxes of books and other items at the last bookfair at EPIC in February.

Bargains can be found straight from the get-go, with a sale this weekend (30 July to 2 August) on education resources for pre-school to Year 12 students.

A large number of student workbooks, handbooks and texts will be on offer, as well as both student and teaching resources for science, society and environment, art and craft, drama and music. There are also children’s books in languages other than English.

All funds will go directly to Lifeline’s crisis support service, 13 11 14.

“It costs $26 to answer a life-saving call in our telephone crisis support centre [and] at Book Lovers Lane, this equates to around a handful of books, so every purchase is valuable,” Lifeline Canberra CEO Carrie Leeson said.
