I live in Isabella Plains in the same street and i was just about to take a shower,I didn’t realise that we were having an electrical storm until it was too late. I turned the hot on then went to go and adjust the cold and I got a jolt of electricity went right up my right arm into my shoulder.. It was like an electric fence but like 3 times worse. My arm has not been the same since. Had ActewAGL come around and was advised to go to the hospital. They were really good.
I haven’t heard anything so loud in my life.
I am just hoping we don’t have another thunderstorm like that again.

And the RSPCA have been inundated with over 330 terrified dogs. 😛

We live just south of it too…It was enormous! I have never heard a thunder clap so loud in all my life. mind you, my 9 month old slept right through it. 4 y.o blocked her ears for about an hour after it!

Yeah I was pretty much right under it too. Set off both my car alarms and rattled my teeth!

Was like an earthquake from above.

Heard this over Fadden way – if Marvin is looking for his earth-shattering kaboom, that was it.

I live about 100 metres from where the lightning strike occured. I thought a bomb went off out the front of the house. The scariest part was that I was fiddling with the cables behind the entertainment unit at the time – my digital topbox died about 15 seconds before the strike. I saw the flash, and split second later BOOM! It made the whole house shake, scared crap out of my kids and took me about an hour to coax the dogs out from under the bed. Freaky stuff indeed!

I might wander up shortly to see if I can get some pics of ground zero …

I’m just south of Cromwell Cct… if it’s the moment I think it was, there was one godalmighty rumble when it struck. Real window rattler. I would have sworn it was directly above me… but it seems I’m fortunate it was not (didn’t lose any power here either…more luck).

Mark Parton on 2CC this morning described it as “a nice bit of entertainment for the residents”. I hardly consider four houses being evacuated after lightning struck a gas main “a nice bit of entertainment”.

A fairly sizeable old eucalypt was blown over near my (inner north) house last night too.
