Just this Saturday I drove past the Linq development in Belconnen and thought to myself “that’s an unusual loose earth work holding up that crane”.
The ABC has the news that a lane of Eastern Valley Way has now had to be closed for fear it will give way:
WorkSafe has shut the northbound lane of Eastern Valley Way between College Street and Cameron Avenue in Belconnen after engineers advice that the road might give way.
The road has been compromised by a landslip at the $80 million Linq apartment complex construction site on Monday.
Dean Hall from the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) says it will be huge job to fix.
“I don’t know how they can make the road safe on the Eastern Valley Way side without battering that back in on Eastern Valley Way,” he said.
