In the continuing saga that is Torvalds vs Tridgell, El Reg has the story on how

Tridgell “screwed people over”, claims Torvalds, portraying him as a hooligan who had no purpose other than willful destruction. “‘[Tridgell] … tore down something new (and impressive) because he could.” Much as hooligans do.

I’m sure the journalist Kommandos at the Register will keep us upto date on this.

[Johnboy – The Register now has a Q&A with Open Source leader Bruce Perens in which he sides firmly with Canberra’s Tridge.]

Christ, these Register articles keep getting worse and worse. Orlowski’s so sensationalist here that it sounds like an IT article for “New Idea”.

Haha! I know I’d pay good money to see this settled with giant inflatable boxing gloves at next week’s linuxconf.

Speaking of which, Does anyone know if Cancom are doing another expo this year?

Man, linux.conf next week might be more than a little interesting if this sort of stuff keeps up…

Slowly the peices come together. So after choosing a particular source management tool, a choice probably based on it’s lack of fees as much as it’s features, and placing all of their data in it, McVoy pulled the free liscence and started charging admission.

That certainly sucks and if Tridge is saying “you broke my trust, I’m not going to play your game, I’m taking back all of what’s mine(ours)” then all power too him.

Thats assuming he is buying in to the moral beat up this issue has obviously become.
