Lisboa Closing For Renovations

There are notices at Lisboa that as of 4pm today (Sunday, 27th of July) they are closing for a “Renovation Rescue”. They’ll be closed for 2-3 weeks and will reopen under a new name.

The staff seem to have been told not to give away too much as the best I could find out was that the menu will be changing “a little”. No hint on name, on how extreme (or not) the renovations will be.

I just hope it’s going to remain a place I can drop into for a coffee with friends. Oh, and that they keep the friendly and cute waitstaff.

I wonder people keep punishing themselves eating at these so called culinary establishments, especially barbars.

Since the change of ownership last year, Lisboa has gone downhill. The food has been ordinary.

There’s no doubt that it needs renovations as it was looking old and tired. Not the fault of the owners, just time taking its toll.

Hopefully the changes will be good at both front and back of house

Lisboa is in Woden … inside, near the entrance to the Cinema.

It must be refurbishment season, because the Babars in Civic (near the old Electric Shadows) is also closed for refurbishment

while we’re on eatery closures, can anyone enlighten me on belucci’s at dickson and the daunting fencing and lack of signed information around the premises?

probably has something to do with the westfield policy of renovate or get evicted…

DawnDrifter, you’re probably on to something there, you know …

I agree with BigRed that the service sucks there, and the food was really good when they first opened about 7 years ago. Now it’s poor quality and way over-priced!

Bigred, you may be right, but they never seemed to have empty tables, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. I’m with Duke on this one … If it ain’t broke, why fix it?

I heard that it might get a brand new lame name in “Cafe Envy”.

Good food and service, but always makes me suspicious when a great little business suddenly re-tools and changes names……..if it ain’t broke etc etc……. usually means something’s gone awry.

I love those platters and the cute waitstaff.

Not to mention the Portuguese chicken platters ….
