Livestock loose in Campbell

ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Ambulance Service are currently on scene at a semi-trailer accident on Northcott Drive and Fairbairn Ave, Campbell.

Vehicle was carrying sheep with livestock loose in the area.

Fire crews are currently cleaning up a fuel spill.

Update to follow.

3:59 PM

ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics are currently treating one male patient for minor injuries with transport to hospital not required.

4:04 PM

ACT Fire & Rescue crews will remain on scene for sometime rescuing sheep from the overturned truck. Arrangements are place for the welfare of the injured sheep.

I was going to post the same thing. and injured sheep = a shot sheep, and a scared and agonized sheep before that happens. A truck crashing with livestock in it means some pretty horrible injuries for the animals.

The best part of this story was the live cross on ABC AM, when a reporter interviewed a nine year old girl whose family dog Thor (border collie they’d had for 4 months, unaware of his super powers) lent a hand (paw) by rounding up all the sheep.

Interviewer: Amazing. Has Thor been trained?

Kid: Well we’d had him about a week when did a big poo on the carpet, so we took him to puppy school. He’s a fast learner ‘cos he hasn’t done it again.

It seems noone knew of his amazing sheep rounding abilities. Good thing he was on hand (paw) to sort it all out for the hopeless humans involved.
