ABC Online is reporting that Territories Minister Jim Lloyd is bringing water-skiing to the lake but for the few, not the many.

A four month trial of water skiing on Lake Burley Griffin will begin in November.

The trial will be limited to practice sessions for elite, competitive skiers.

How cosy.

The Chief Minister has kindly put up a media release explaining the trial will thankfully be confined to the East Basin.

Good point. Perhaps the ‘competitive’ thing refers to who can pay out the most $$$ for the skiing permit.
That done, you become ‘elite’ – even if you’re so crap, you get dragged around at 70kph on your bum (which I don’t advise, given what I’ve seen floating around in the water).

How the fuck are they going to tell who’s elite and who’s not? Will they have ‘elite police’ patrolling, waiting to arrest anyone who face-plants or fucks up badly? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; what a crock.

If I want to go and throw my hat in the water-kiing ring, then I’ll bloody well do it. I guarantee I’m not elite, but it’ll be a cold day in hell before they can stop me trying it. Between the ‘nimbys’ and the ‘elite nazis’ the rest of us have a hard time having some fun.

I would like to announce the inaugural 1337 RiotACT competitive ski race for fun. It will be held in December sometime.

That should be enough to make us all elite, competitive skiiers.

To the lake !

Delicately stated, Vic.
It would be a great place for the Navy to do depth-charge practice, instead of buggering up the coral on the Barrier Reef.
And cheaper for the Combined Services to conduct amphibious wargames here, than to waste all our money trekking off to FNQ or the Gulf of Carpentaria.

We need to open up the lake to all forms of recreational boating.

What the fuck else is there do do with it apart from catch carp and admire it’s brown-ness.

Fuck the nimbys who live near LBG who will indoubtably bleat. They can go and piss off to Nimbin or somewhere.

I sure hope the LBG Monster frequents the East Basin occasionally…all “elite, competitive” tossers deserve to be gobbled.

Fruck it. Four months open slather and see what happens. Time to start rebuilding the submarine out the front of AWM

Min. Lloyd obviously reads and heeds what is suggested on RiotAct – http://the-riotact.com/?p=1176#comments
