A mystery local buyer has set an on-market 2018 ACT residential price record to acquire a bespoke Yarralumla residence amid global competition.

REI Residential Salesperson of the year, Mario Sanfrancesco of Peter Blackshaw Manuka, negotiated the sale of 16 Hill Corner, selling the property for a result just shy of his record $6,030,000 for Westridge House in Banks Street late last year.

The latest deal now gives Mr Sanfrancesco the top three sale prices in the leafy embassy suburb.

Number 16 Hill Corner presents an understated, pavilion style façade, but the standard and luxury of its bespoke interior and extensive amenities saw it draw buyer interest from New York, London, Beijing and Dubai.

The home comprises six bedrooms, five bathrooms, two living areas, four kitchens and kitchenettes, two fireplaces and two double garages. There is also a full-sized tennis court with floodlighting and a separate two-storey pool house and apartment, highlighted by an indoor 14 metre x 5 metre solar and gas-heated pool, not to mention a fully-equipped home theatre, and a central courtyard with room for 100 guests.

The home was built in 2005 and the adjoining block was later acquired to provide a total site of just under 2000 square metres.

Mr Sanfrancesco said the sale price was an indicator of the international appeal of the residence and the strength of the competition.

“It demonstrates that buyers appreciate great architecture and a commitment to quality interior design,” he said.

“That combination has delivered a unique home where every luxury has been included. It has really delivered an estate that lives up to that aspiration of resort-style living.

“Credit must go to the owners of this magnificent property for creating such understated and stylish residence.”
