The Doodle 4 Google competition is searching for the next logo to be displayed on the Google website on Australia Day next year.

The entries are in, and these are the finalists from the ACT:

1–3 year group

Rachel Toohey, Year 3, Sacred Heart Primary

4–6 year group

Teegan Blakers, Year 6, Bonython Primary School

7–8 year group

Michaella Guilfoyle, Year 8, Wanniassa School Senior Campus

9–10 year group

Yukino Kanazawa, Year 9, Wanniassa School Senior Campus

And a special mention to Jola Olender, a year 9 student from nearby Karabar High School and Distance Education Centre (Queanbeyan), who is also a finalist in the 9–10 year group with this entry:

So are the surf life saving flags in the third one.

Plus, I hate to break it to Rachel Toohey in Year 3, and Yukino Kanazawa in Year 9, but their Aboriginal flags are upside-down.

Interesting entries, although I don’t think the Aboriginal flags are a winner – a good token of inclusiveness, but the Aboriginal Community aren’t big fans of “invasion day”.
