ABC Canberra has the story of a local man who has received the Star of Courage for his efforts in rescuing a mate from the Sea King helicopter crash in Indonesia in 2005.

Well done that man.

Well, the equivalent is now the Cross of Valour. I assume that is what’s now awarded to Australians?

You are thinking of the Cross of Valour (was George Cross), which is the highest decoration for bravery not in the face of the enemy. The Star of Courage is the 2nd highest.

Isn’t he the same bloke who’s being screwed over by the Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs? If I recall they were demanding he ‘prove’ that he was in that chopper. Nothing ever changes… Bastards.

That’s tops! 🙂
