A Canberra local has managed to scrape together the cash to put a picture on the big screen.

Paul Murphy probably told huge lies to his friends to back him 300,000 dollars to produce the film which he wrote and stars in, along with some more well known actors.

The shorts for “Hobby Farm” are worth watching and as the film has got some awards and good reviews, the entire film probably will be too.

It opens tomorrow night at the Limelight Cinema in Tuggeranong at 7.30pm and runs the rest of the week at the same time, except for Monday when it’s on at 7.10 pm.

Paul will probably be there tomorrow night so it will be a rare opportunity to watch a local movie, with a local star who is likely to be within easy range of even the most feebly thrown popcorn.

Paul did an interview on Sunday Night Safran a few weeks ago too: http://mpegmedia.abc.net.au/triplej/safran/safran_2010_11_21.mp3

Good work! Hope it does well.

I’m still not sure why Australian film makers have a fascination with films about criminals.

Yes. That would be the one.

Is that the movie that was filmed at Kenmore in Goulburn? Looks pretty cool, might have to head down to Tuggers tomorrow night.
