Location for 18th birthday party?

Hey there fellow Canberrans,

My 18th birthday is in the coming months and I’d like to have a party to celebrate. Unfortunately my house isn’t big enough to hold a party so I’m in need of another location.

An indoor space would be preferable in case of poor weather conditions. Pubs and clubs won’t do as a lot of my friends are under 18.

My guest list isn’t a rowdy bunch and I would be getting security in case of gate crashers.

Does anyone know any places that would be suitable?

McDonalds.

Ice-cream cake FTW.

You should call up places like mooseheads and actually ask about the under 18s thing. I’m sure they would be more than happy to host an event, and give wristbands to the people >18. Particularly for a private event

Other than that, try RSLs and football clubs etc.

depending on the day and the time they sometimes give groups exclusivity at the top floor or downstairs.

My daughter had her 18th at Hog’s Breath. Has a party menu.

North side would be preferable.

Thanks to those who have posted, I’ll look into some of these options. If anyone knows of other places do post!

I have been to parties at Scout halls. Pretty cheap to hire, have basic kitchen facilities, toilets and some are out of the way a little so you can have loud music and yahoo and carry on …

You can decorate to suit before the big event as well.

The George Harcourt Inn does 18th parties. They have a set of rules, including hand-stamping and adult supervision.

mooseheads, with camera; start a new dance craze on your coming of age!

the canberra yacht club has a nice marquee out back that does a nice line in functions.

And no worries about your friends who are 15-16-17 getting in either!

Or Mercury, for the 13 year old cousins.

I suggest checking out some Hotel function rooms etc, I would avoid something like a ‘hall’

My 18th was at NorthBar, had many under 18 friends, they were let in, but had a stamp on thier hand which barred them from being served alcohol.

Only cause it was a private function though.
