Lock your car, there are thieves about!!

My room-mate just disturbed some cretins attempting to break into her car which was parked on the street in Wanniassa.

Under the full glow of a street light as well.

They had a car waiting down the road for the get away.

She has reported it to the police but I’d guess they will be moving on and trying again.

Anyone with a 12 gauge and rocking chair, this would be the perfect time for some porch sitting.

The car theft problem seems big enough in Canberra to justify this sort of thing. Although the civil libertarians will argue that being locked in the car for a few minutes is cruel. And the judges will let them off on a good behaviour bond at most.

It would probably be more effective to promote a vigilante program whereby if someone is caught stealing a car it’s up to the 10 closest people to beat the snot out of them.

It would be more effective than the current system.

We should set up something like this:

The Russians know how to do it.

Why can’t we have a few trap cars set up like the Police in the US have done? Cars are set up with remote engine immobilisers and automatic door lockers, so thieves break into cars, start them up and get a little bit down the road before the engine cuts out and they are locked in the car, ready for the Police to pick them up.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing … recent evidence suggests you’ll be better off unlocking the car.

Or get actual security:

Meanwhile in Weston acreek, and everywhere else, it’s been aptly demonstrated that locking a car is no deterrent to a thief with a hammer.

Getting your car off the street, if you can, is the best option. Sad but true.

can you indicate which street?

bloody mongrels.

You need an anti theft device.

..also a garage, sadly many unloved cars are forced to live outside in the cold whilst their owners fill garages with crap.

Strangely enough, there are people who manage to live without garages at all.
