Simon Corbell has announced the passage of his improved portable long service schemes:
Improved portable long service leave schemes for Territory workers were secured by legislation passed in the ACT Legislative Assembly today, Industrial Relations Minister, Simon Corbell, said.
“The ACT Government has provided workers in the security, contract cleaning, building and construction and community sector industries with the ability to retain accrued long service leave when they move between jobs,” Mr Corbell said.
“This confirms the ACT as the national leader in providing portable long service to workers and their employers across the largest number of industries.
“This Act is about making sure the portable schemes keep pace with the needs of employers and their workers in each industry. The Government is making sure that apprentices employed through registered training organisation and workers under labour hire arrangements receive the entitlements they deserve.
“These changes will also confirm that workers directly supervising building and construction work are entitled to join their industry’s portable scheme.
