I wonder when these people will begin to understand the benefits of giving up their pre-19th-century systems of measurement?

Strictly, the metric system is also pre-19th-century…

Only by a couple of months. I was rounding up.

Around the same time their law enforcement personnel stop saying things like “I believe we have in custody right now the only individual who is responsible for this” when a 12yo boy brings a shotgun to school and shoots two of his classmates.

Poetix, the song ‘Don’t you eat the yellow snow’ is from your favourite album…Apostrophe (‘).
🙂

Watch out where the huskies go and don’t you eat that yellow snow.

It’s currently 10oC cooler than that in Sydney and we have a full-on blizzard happening. Most of us aren’t even wearing jackets and mittens…harden up Canberra!

Pretty silly. It’s obvious they have a US algorithm in place which is registering the 38 temp as Fahrenheit, and in the US if the temp gets that low then light snow usually happens.

I’d worry if a weather site were using nothing but the temperature to predict snow. It’s entirely possible (and common, as we should know) for the temperature to be in the low single digit C (high 30s F) and not have snow. So there must be something else going on here.

Incidentally, Google must be using the same source for the “Tree” theme in Gmail (which shows a tree under the effects of your current weather), as my mail has frequently had a snowy backdrop this week…

Snow, or not, I am encouraged by the prospect of a temp in the mid-teens some time between now and tomorrow morning.

That is fantastic!

Thanks for posting, stonedwookie. Made my sunburn, or snowburn, feel a bit better.

Pretty silly. It’s obvious they have a US algorithm in place which is registering the 38 temp as Fahrenheit, and in the US if the temp gets that low then light snow usually happens. That’s what has triggered the Light Snow warning. It is obvious to see that the Celsius temps provided by BOM have been wrongly given as Fahrenheit by the long range min and max temps underneath. At least Weatherzone is run by Aussies and gives temps in the modern format, not something we disposed of more than 40 years ago.

Should I cover my tomatoes just in case?
