Looking for a good podiatrist

My big toe has been niggling me for a while and has prevented me from jogging.

Don’t know if it’s an old sporting injury or what, but the doctor couldn’t see anything in the x-ray so now I think it’s time to see someone who knows big toes.

Can anyone recommend a specialist in Canberra to kiss it better?

Wasn’t heels that caused it… was achilles tendonosis (yes, that’s spelled right), plus 3 seasons in rapid succession spent in ski boots. It was teh last one that did it, we were snow-locked so barely did any walking out of the boots, and the feet gave up.

It’s been interesting to learn that different podiatrists have different approaches and philosophies WRT feet and how you fix them. Ben’s ideas make a lot of sense, and everything he said would happen, happened.

I haven’t mentioned the heels to him though, he wouldn’t be happy about that.

You might want to investigate gout as a cause http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gout

Most attacks start in the big toe. Try to reduce serum uric acid in your system and see how you feel.

paul miniter down at woden (in the private part of canberra hospital) operated on 2 of my toes this year. they barely hurt at all now – and i had chronic pain before. and i got 6 weeks off work for recovery to boot 😀

Ontopic:
Indika at Footcare is also good. I just think he’s good at fixing feet, but former workmates think he’s dreamy.

Thanks all.

+1. I lost the use of my feet altogether in 02/03, and he has fixed them to the point where I can wear high heels again, and can contemplate taking up bushwalking again. Very clever bloke.

For some reason I had it in my head that you were male. Suppose it’s because I know so many ‘Ant’honys. And if you ARE male, well, good for you and I’m sure you make the girls jealous 🙂

Ben Balthazaar, Footcare, Woden. He gets quite a bit of referral from sports medicos and orthopods.

Canberra Podiatry at Deakin, http://www.canberrapodiatry.com.au/

They do all their own orthotic work, so no round trips to distant cities and months long waiting lists to get things done.

Active Foot at O’Connor – 6162 1314 – worked for me.
