I’m looking for one or two people to play some Irish music for an hour or so at a wedding in October.
First preferences are for an uilleann piper or harpist but am open to suggestion. Does anyone know someone suitable?
Any help would be very much appreciated as I am having a great deal of difficulty tracking someone down.

Cassidy’s Ceili are a Canberra based Irish band, with over ten years experience playing together – they are worth a look: http://cassidysceili.com/
Try the Canberra Musician’s Club also – proudly sponsored by RiotACT too

Try The Harp Centre for a harpist: http://www.harpcentre.com.au/
Canberra Celtic Pipe Band?

Pat is an excellent piper, but he unfortunately moved to Adelaide a few years ago
As far as I know, there are four uilleann pipers in Canberra, and I’m one of them!
I play the more slow haunting ballad stuff – see my YouTube channel for typical examples (http://www.youtube.com/user/macgyver1macgyver).
There is a guy called Brett that I believe can play the more ‘diddly’ stuff (I might be able to track down contact details for him if you need it).
I don’t personally know any harp players, but have seen a few around in the Canberra folk music scene – I do know someone that will definitely be able to track a harpist down though.
Email me at macgyver@live.com.au if you would like to discuss any of this further.
Cheers
