After many years of lurking it’s time to submit an article!

I’m a developer from Inventerprising — a local IT company — and we’ve just released a Facebook game called Lord Word Worm. The game is a completely new and unique word-tile concept designed for those of us looking for an intelligent alternative to the cartoon-style games currently available. It seems to appeal to casual players wanting to just relax and “dabble” but also rewards deep strategic thought for players who enjoy planning many moves ahead.

If this sounds like your thing, please check it out at:

http://apps.facebook.com/lordwordworm/

And of course we’d love to hear any comments or feedback you might have.

NB: requires Facebook account to play, but demo is available without account or login.

Thanks. We’ll have a look at the Quick Start Guide again and see if it can be simplified even further.

Good luck with that. I had the same problem, but I persisted and figured it out. It’s a complicated game, and I don’t know how you’d simplify the instructions.

This is a great game; I can tell because the missus is already cranky about it…

Someone posted on Lord Word Worm’s Facebook Wall that they should sue “The Worm” because it caused them to miss their law lecture. These are the types of problems we love to hear about!

When I click on the thing (where it says demo version, click to play), it tells me I have to log in, then if I do log into facebook, it tells me that I have to give you all my personal details etc….

Can I play the demo without doing that?

The demo is an animated demonstration of the game. To play the game you will need to “allow” the application – same as other FB applications. Some other games also ask for permission to email you or to access your account while you’re not logged in! We feel that’s too invasive and may turn away otherwise interested players so we don’t require those things.

BTW Lord Word Worm only posts to your wall if you ask it to.

Why aren’t you allowing the demo without requiring my friend list? Why don’t you organise a test spot linked from Facebook, so you aren’t gouging my private info? A very one-way transaction NiggyNog. (Also suggest you change your Riotact name from a racist slur if you are planning to use America-based Facebook!)

From what I could see, it looked promising at first, but I agree with another poster, you’ll need to explain simply. And I didn’t like the $$$ totals totting up and heading back down … I also think endless incarnations of four-letter words will quickly get boring.

Good luck with it though.

nup, i’ve given it a go, followed what the basic premise is but i just dont like it. I love a good word game (bookworm, super text twist etc) but this one is clunky to use, too many rules that are hard to understand and frustrating.

sorry, not my bag.

Great, another Facebook app. Standing by to click ignore all

anyone else finding it really confusing? instructions need to be no more than 5 dot points, otherwise I lose interest!

I was very interested in trying it and tried to immediately. I was disappointed to find that my web browser (Google Chrome) does not support it. I will have to use IE or Firefox……..

Unfortunately there’s a bug in Chrome that prevents one essential part of the game. The bug has been reported to Google several times over the past year, but hasn’t been fixed yet. It’s a pity – Chrome is a great browser and becoming more popular.

In the meantime we support IE, Firefox and Safari on Windows, Mac & Linux.
