Simon Corbell has announced the appointment of Ms Lorraine Walker to the troubled ACT Magistracy (Simon says it is an “exciting time”).

For the past 10 years Ms Walker has worked as a barrister in the ACT.

Ms Walker has extensive experience in her 23 years in the profession including being a partner of a law firm, a crown prosecutor, a solicitor, and a legal officer in the Royal Australian Air Force.

“Not only has Ms Walker worked within the legal profession, but also tutors at the Australian National University legal workshop in advocacy and skills and mentors junior practitioners,” Mr Corbell said.

Best of luck to her.

Do tell what a magistrate will be able to do with someone charged with murder, besides deal with the bail applications or commital hearing?

“but also tutors at the Australian National University legal workshop in advocacy and skills and mentors junior practitioners”

So do a number of other useless solicitors in this town who aren’t weighed down by actual work

Lets just hope Lorraine Walker is comes down hard on criminals, and murderers!
