I hope they learnt their lesson and don’t try do it again. Stupid women, avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day and always ALWAYS have water with you *sigh*.

What a waste of resources. When you go bushwalking you take the necessities, but that isn’t any more bushwalking than a stroll around LBG.
The tracks there follow the river so water couldn’t have been a major concern, however, if they couldn’t handle the heat or the distance they shouldn’t have been out there in the first place. Incidentally, amazing how just 2.5km from the edge of a Canberra suburb you find a place where mobile network doesn’t work.

I got dehydrated when I stupidly forgot to take a water bottle on my ride from Watson to Commonwealth park for the fireworks on Australia Day (stupid is the most obvious word missing from that media release, I reckon). And indeed, after a dreadful ride home feeling sick and weak, all it took to patch me up was w-a-t-e-r. (My daugther would’ve loved it if I would’ve called the ‘special rescue firefighters’! But in the end she had to be content with patting me on the back telling me I could make it home instead.)

Maybe they should find the Bureau of Meteorology website and go for a walk next Sunday.

Sounds like the man walking with the two women may have overstated the seriousness of the situation. Seems like ‘specialist rescue firefighters’ and intensive care paramedics are overkill when a bottle of water would have done the trick.
