Loud bangs south of Gungahlin?

By - 3 September 2012 34

About 11am we heard a series of loud noises coming from somewhere south of Franklin- apparently they could also be heard in Civic.

Anyone know what’s going on?

What’s Your opinion?

I farted. I’m sorry really about that, but all this attention being brought to it is making me embarrassed.

What have you been eating, boy? I assume you’re a boy, because although ladies fart, most of them don’t boast about it.

Makes sense- they did seem very regularly spaced. Cheers!

I was riding around Yarramundi Reach at the time. The bangs in question came from the GG’s joint (I could see the smoke rising after each bang). Being curious about their provenance, and also to make sure it wasn’t something riotously untoward, I counted them as I rode along. There were twenty one bangs in all, leading me to think it was a twenty one gun salute. I also saw some cops on Commonwealth Ave preparing to block the intersection the other day, presumably for a motorcade of sorts. Putting two and two together, I’d say there’s a dignitary of some description in town and they were treated to a bit of pomp and ceremony from some chaps in very nicely pressed uniforms.

I was in Palmerston about 11 and heard nothing. There is supposed to be a burn off at Franklin today, but I can’t imagine that loud noises would have anything to do with it.

Just another gunfight between rival gangs in the Gungahlin Favela.

The burn off is just to the north of us, so I’m assuming it was something separate making the noise.

Hmm, probably not related, just saw this http://the-riotact.com/big-burn-near-franklin-today/81359

I was driving home along Horse Park drive at about 11:15 and wondered what the big plume of smoke was coming from somewhere near Gungahlin. The smoke drifted right over Harrison. Wonder if it’s the same thing?
