We had a couple of posts on our Facebook page overnight about low flying helicopters returning and Police activity at Mulligans Flat.

It turns out a moutain bike rider has gone missing and there was a search on last night and again today.

The following is a media release from ACT Policing.

Search resumes for missing man

Release Date: Sunday, September 09 2012, 08:39 AM

ACT Policing’s Specialist Response Group, together with ACT Fire and rescue and State Emergency Service volunteers, has resumed searching today (Sunday, September 9) in the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve area for a 42-year-old man missing since late yesterday afternoon.

The man, Michael Deering, was reported missing around 8.40pm last night after he failed to return to his Forde home. He had left home around 4.15pm yesterday to walk in the reserve.

Mr Deering is described as around 186cm (6’1”) tall, with a slim build, short brown hair, and glasses. He was wearing a puffy black jacket and jeans. Police are keen to speak with anyone who may have been walking or cycling in the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve area yesterday and may have seen the person described, or could provide further information on 131-444.

A mountain biker was seen emerging from the reserve around 8.15pm and that person is urged to contact Police Operations on 131-444.

Hijacking a thread about a walker going missing and apparently being found dead just so you can make a lame phonetic joke.

Stay classy, whoops, too late.

(For those who see NSW or WA police helicopter vision, you’ll notice the logo of this company who make the systems Police and search and rescue helicopters use. They also make the thermographic camera Beyond Products use on Mythbusters: http://www.flir.com.au)

FLIR as Forward Looking Infra Red was more relevant for cold war warplanes.

FLIR the trademark, not FLIR the acronym and technology. Confusing admittedly.

Not to be confused with fleur…

Sad outcome if that’s the case.

I do wonder though what the black helicopter flying super low and slow over the city during the week was. It clearly had a gyro mount on the front, which means filming or FLIR.

Or just IR?

FLIR as Forward Looking Infra Red was more relevant for cold war warplanes.

CT is reporting they found body of deceased this morning male with no suspicious circumstances

The title of this article is rather misleading. The police are not searching for a mountain bike rider they are looking for a walker who has gone missing. But they do wish to talk to a mountain bike rider who was seen leaving the reserve.
