Following yesterday’s “(Re)surfacing epic fail x 2“:
The cycle path between Mouat St and the intersection of Wattle & Scrivener streets recently received similar treatment. The path had been cracking for years, and small sections were completely replaced about a year ago. Recently, the remaining cracks were “repaired” with long snaking smears of black goop & the whole path was resurfaced 1-2 weeks ago.
Here are some shots of the new path. The contractors (?) didn’t smooth down the surface properly in many areas, leaving multiple rough sections along much of the path. The worst section is the 4 way intersection halfway along the path, with with an uneven surface and loose gravel:
Also, toward Wattle St, the workers patched the surface over pre-existing roots, leaving lumpy sections (not pictured) and rough patches:
How someone could fail to notice this/roll it flat is beyond me. This botched job has left riders with a nice rough surface, worse than the original.
Contrast this to the nearby cycle paths which are in far better condition:
