Lyons house fire. Dodgy downlight to blame.

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at a house fire on Wrest Street, Lyons.

Fire was in the roof space and has been extinguished.

No one home at time of the fire.

Crews were alerted by Emergency Triple Zero (000) calls at 8.20pm by neighbours.

Three fire pumpers on scene with the Breathing Apparatus Van, the Hazardous Materials Unit and two command vehicles.

No damage to neighbouring properties.

ACT Ambulance Service also on scene supporting operations with no injuries reported.

ACT Fire & Rescue crews are now conducting air monitoring and ventilation operations at the three bedroom, single level house.

Update to follow.

9:15 PM

Fire was caused from heat build up from a downlight covered by insulation in the roof space.

Fire damage contained to 25 per-cent of the roof space and three rooms.

ACT Fire & Rescue will continue to remain on site for sometime to monitor the fire damaged structure and are anticipating to leave the scene by midnight.
