Call for Proposals
From July – December 2010 The Street Theatre will present two curated seasons of work created by independent artists. Proposals are for the presentation of projects that can be single or multi-artform but must be primarily live performance-based works.

The Street Theatre are encouraging all artists and ensembles to act now and grab this creative development opportunity.

The majority of theatre work made in Canberra is by independent artists who come together to create work that: explores new ideas and old and new forms; develops individual and ensemble practice; and contributes to a body of work; all with limited resources.

In 2010 The Street Theatre will continue to build on the success of the Made in Canberra program as a platform for independent live performance and performers in Canberra. This program is designed to invest in the artist/s and their work, in a co-presents framework whilst nurturing a sustainable independent theatre culture. The program and audiences for Made in Canberra have developed and grown substantially over the last two years and so, in 2010, we will present two programs outlined below:
Independent ‘music-based’ performance
Independent ‘theatre-based’ performance

In 2010 The Street Theatre is looking to program eight music-based independent works and five theatre-based independent works.

THE STREET THEATRE ENCOURAGES
imaginative use of Street 1 or Street 2
innovative approaches to the development and presentation of live performance work
expressions and explorations of the character of Canberra
artists who mix up artforms and genres
diversity of arts practice and cultures
