Majura roo cull back on

The ABC reports that the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal has had a chance to gather its thoughts and has dismissed Animal Liberation’s challenge to the roo cull at Defence’s Majura site.

Today the tribunal ruled that the Government’s original decision [to authorise the cull] should be confirmed because there is compelling evidence that the kangaroos have caused substantial damage to declared ecological communities and threatened species.

So after great expense and embuggeration we’re back where we were.

So Emlyn gets 110/100 for irony.

OTOH, I’m all for culling in a reasonable humane fashion, rather than pretending this is somehow the roo’s problem to solve. And providing contraceptives for roos instead of shooting them is about as sensible as sending a warship to rescue a lone yachtsman instead of sending it to rescue – or kill – a few thousand suffering sheep on a live sheep trade ship.

(PS I have both rational and irrational beliefs. Some of them bizarre. One of my beliefs is that we all have irrational beliefs.)

Not so challenging if you airburst white phos…

Since they need to cull 7000 or so by the end of July, defence is probably best placed to meet the timing requirements as opposed to contracted civvies. 7000 headshots in 5 weeks would be a big ask for 2 blokes wandering around with .223’s.

I have no bizarre beliefs. I am a rational being.

What about your bizarre beliefs Emlyn?

Is it possible for the tribunal to award costs?

Oooh, yeah! Definitely something that should be pursued.

Sick to the back teeth of kooky fringe-dwellers like these vegan-loons inflicting their bizarre beliefs on the rest of us.

ABC news site reported:

Defence says it will attempt to cull as many kangaroos as it can before the end of July.

Defence?? I thought the ACT Government contracted roo culling to specialists that are experienced in humanely kill them?

As some rioters have already pointed out, a very challenging target practise?

Fair P!nkum?

Has anyone asked the roos how they feel about Pink songs re-defining “high rotation” on local radio? They could re-name the commercial FMs “Pink Radio”, fair dinkum.

Has anyone asked P!nk and other misguided celebs if the cull is okay????

The victory was fleeting. It might be too late to get the job done now.

I never thought you could call cars “threatened species”, but there you go.

There was a small and broken roo on Pialligo Ave this morning, next to where they removed all the very old pines from.
