Majura 'roo cull suspended by the ACT Administrative Appeals Tribunal

The ABC reports that the ACT Administrative Appeals Tribunal has waded into ‘roo culling, ordering the half-completed cull on the Majura Range be halted while the Tribunal gathers to deliberate.

Tribunal president Linda Crebbin has ordered a stay to the cull of kangaroos at the Majura site until the issue can be considered by the tribunal’s full panel.

She says she doubts a short delay in the kangaroo cull will affect any threatened species.

The “short delay” is to a June hearing. No doubt followed by countless appeals.

I thought you were just a troll, now I can see that you’re a troll wearing a tin-foil hat.

Sorry clown killer you, and all the rest of the idiots spouting complete and utter rubbish about the kangaroos in the ACT, are completely misinformed. The kangaroos are NOT starving (if you had bothered to open your eyes while traveling around Canberra you would have noticed green grass gracing the paddocks they eat in) and the only threat to the native grasslands and the endangered species that are constantly mentioned by the ‘yes minister’ scientific committees is the development push by the Stanhope government. It’s interesting to note the complete silence of the Canberra public (especially the scientific interest groups) when native grasslands are bulldozed to make way for housing and other developments. Don’t hear anybody screaming then.

Kangasrevenge, nice opening troll! Now to the substance of your post:

You lot dare to worry about tax payers money being spent on this case?

Why not? We pay tax seeing as what government gets up to come out of our pockets it only seems reasonable to have an interest.

I worry about my tax payers money being spent on the millions of dollars it costs to pay so many misinformed, bigoted, misogynistic, wildlife hating public servants!

Dry your eyes princess. Of all the issues that you could pick I would hazard that the culling of macropods would be just about have to be the one issue that it was almost impossible to be misinformed on – it’s been done to death. There have been endless studies, reviews, expert panels, consultative approaches, assessments, studies and discussion papers. Misogynistic? Well that’s for you and Steady Eddie to figure out between you. Wildlife hating? I won’t speak for others but I love wildlife (roaming free in the countryside or simmering in camp oven), I am a huge fan of wildlife. Lastly, we’re certainly not all public servants here so painting with that brush won’t work.

Why don’t you pack up and get a job somewhere else where it’s concrete from one end of town to the other? Oh, sorry, you lot wouldn’t have the brains to get a real job.

Not surprising to see that the decision was made by a woman. Of course. When will governments stop making tokenistic appointments of women when it has been proven that they are just not up to the task. The experiment has failed and it’s time to get back to normal again.

I wonder if troll tastes as good as roo?

And while we’re at it, kids should be back in the coal mines……….

Now you’re talking.

Can you imagine the current crop of kiddies actually working?! Ha.

I meant ‘the reason this cull…’ not ‘the fact’. Brain isn’t working very well today.

The fact this cull was going on in the first place was because there was not enough food for all the kangaroos. You’d think that it would be better to cull them than let them starve to death. Both options are horrible, but at least they won’t be suffering if they get culled.

Yes, they should all stay at home baking, cooking, cleaning and making babies – their small brains just can’t handle anything more complex than that.

And while we’re at it, kids should be back in the coal mines……….

Well, since there are actually more women than men, technically, women are “normal” and the other people are not. So there you go.

Not that I travel down that way anymore but lots of people I know have hit a roo many times in that area, who cares about the wild life, when your drive down Majura is like the movie death race.

So the roos must be shot because people want to drive fast and not wreck their cars hitting them? That’s a bit rough. How about people slow down in roo areas? Radical!

Good grief! I’ve so much to say to you Eddie…. but I can’t be bothered.

The Tribunal definitely has jurisdiction. It is an appeal from the decision to grant the culling licence. The decision was made by an ACT Government body, hence it reviewable.

The dopey bint from liberation nsw on radio this morning really had no idea on the process either. She completely misrepresented the decision of the Tribunal.

ChrisinTurner9:06 am 15 May 09

The people causing this unnecessary delay have completely misrepresented the tribunal’s powers when they say the decision says the government is doing something “illegal”. The Government makes the rules!! I hope costs are awarded against the Animal Liberation people, and a month’s delay will be quite expensive.

That’s a terrible spelling masteak.

Why has it been stopped? They provide no reason for preventing the cull from progressing? I would also question whether the AAT actually has jurisdiction in this case..

Someone-South4:57 pm 14 May 09

What about the people who had several weeks of work as a result of this cull??
what happens as far as their income till this is heard at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal? There are not just shooters with Culling Licences working on this contract.

Quick roos, make a run for it while you still can during the armistice! 🙂

It’s not the government, it’s the judiciary. I agree that it’s a waste of time and money, but I disagree that it shouldn’t be possible.

Perhaps if individuals or organisations lodging these appeals unsuccessfully were charged the cost of the delay (ipso facto of course), we’d see fewer of these frivolous ones…

Clown Killer4:36 pm 14 May 09

What on God’s green earth does the bloody Administrative Appeals Tribunal believe can be added to this process that hasn’t been done to death already? This is little more than pointless pandering to mischief makers simply want to interfere with the due process of an elected government.

F**k. hippies.

RANT TIME:

ARRRRRGGGG!

Why are my tax payers dollars getting sucked away with useless tribunals, comities, white papers, brown papers, and the like?

Who is going to pay for all this waste of public money, me and you.
Surely if something has been given a green light then nothing should stop it, bar a actual real reason to. Not that I travel down that way anymore but lots of people I know have hit a roo many times in that area, who cares about the wild life, when your drive down Majura is like the movie death race.

I wonder if Paul McCartney cash has anything to do with it?

The report explains nothing about the reason for this culling to be stopping either. Oh and one person can just stop something without explaining it, what kind of government can do this?
