Majura 'roo cull suspended by the ACT Administrative Appeals Tribunal

The kangaroos are NOT starving (if you had bothered to open your eyes while traveling around Canberra you would have noticed green grass gracing the paddocks they eat in) and the only threat to the native grasslands and the endangered species that are constantly mentioned by the ‘yes minister’ scientific committees is the development push by the Stanhope government. It’s interesting to note the complete silence of the Canberra public (especially the scientific interest groups) when native grasslands are bulldozed to make way for housing and other developments. Don’t hear anybody screaming then.

Why not? We pay tax seeing as what government gets up to come out of our pockets it only seems reasonable to have an interest.

Of all the issues that you could pick I would hazard that the culling of macropods would be just about have to be the one issue that it was almost impossible to be misinformed on – it’s been done to death. There have been endless studies, reviews, expert panels, consultative approaches, assessments, studies and discussion papers. Misogynistic? Well that’s for you and Steady Eddie to figure out between you. Wildlife hating? I won’t speak for others but I love wildlife (roaming free in the countryside or simmering in camp oven), I am a huge fan of wildlife. Lastly, we’re certainly not all public servants here so painting with that brush won’t work.

Not surprising to see that the decision was made by a woman. Of course. When will governments stop making tokenistic appointments of women when it has been proven that they are just not up to the task. The experiment has failed and it’s time to get back to normal again.

I meant ‘the reason this cull…’ not ‘the fact’. Brain isn’t working very well today.

The fact this cull was going on in the first place was because there was not enough food for all the kangaroos. You’d think that it would be better to cull them than let them starve to death. Both options are horrible, but at least they won’t be suffering if they get culled.
