Man who allegedly took car and 14-month-old child charged with assault

A man who allegedly took a car with a 14-month-old child in the back seat and assaulted the mother in Wanniassa on Wednesday (19 February) will appear in court today after his extradition from NSW.

Police located the child safe and well at a Queanbeyan residence on Wednesday night and a 36-year-old Wanniassa man was arrested shortly after.

He appeared in Queanbeyan Magistrates Court yesterday (20 February) where ACT Policing successfully applied for his extradition to the ACT.

He was charged him with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, two counts of common assault and one count of property damage.

The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (21 February) where bail will be opposed.
