manuka car crash

I joined a group of stunned onlookers at the scene of this three-car accident in the carpark under Coles Manuka just after 5pm yesterday.

It looked as though a third car had bumped the car on the right into the one on the left, then driven off.

Hopefully security camera footage will help the poor car owners.

Saw a similar one happen on Childers St the other day. Middle age woman in a Subaru reverse parallel parking. She turned too early and went too fast, imploded the side of her car on a ute which, thanks to the flat tray, wasn’t damaged at all. She didn’t appreciate the audience who heard the crunch and then watched as she tried to park it again.

They were probably trying to avoid an idiot cyclist.

i blame reptoids – they were clearly the third, no longer here, third vehicle…

It’s that damn ice from the NCA!

Rear right quarter panel appears to be mashed in and there looks to be witness marks on the concrete next to the rear right wheel where it’s slid sideways.

No chance anyone got more pic’s of this??

Its a little tricky to see whats going on here!

Handbrake off, wheels not straight? Hard to judge from a photo though.

Psh – I can manage to park a Ford Forte stationwagon (with seating installed in the back) in that carpark without too much angst…

But I admit to being somewhat boggled at the pug/Mazda interface…

It is a shockingly poorly designed carpark. Im not excusing individual actions, but the engineering in that carpark is a disgrace. Unless you drive a smart car, its difficult to maneuvre in and out of the too small car spaces.

They make the spaces so narrow in order to squeeze more cars in and thus make more money from parking fees.

The driver’s side of the pug looks pushed in to me? It should be bulging out, not in.

Peugeot’s front wheels are on a very odd angle too…considering where it might have been parked (or being parked…)

The angle of the pic makes it hard to see but I cant see any damage to the driver’s side of the pug

If it was caused by a third car, the visible side of the Pug would be smashed to pieces. Those Pugs ding so easily its not funny, so I can’t see a third car managing to push it that far without the car being written off.

I used to park there but returned to my car one day to find it had some unexplained scraping down one side…. do they have cameras in that carpark?

Looks like the pug owner has rammed the mazda whilst reversing.

Whoever did it must have really rammed the peugeot hard, as they are reasonably heavy. Imagine getting back to your car and finding that.

I tend to park around the corner in Captain Cook Crescent, I see too much stupidity in that underground carpark.

That is sooooooooo Canberra.

5 yearly driving tests will help

Amen.

I encounter motorists most days who still don’t understand the give-way rules at intersections.

They should leave the cars and call it ‘art’………………similar to that GDE ‘Industrial Accident’ near Barton Highway.

Some of the worst parking I have ever seen happens in that carpark. I don’t know what it is.

5 yearly driving tests will help

…………………..but a speed camera would have stopped this!!!
