DCP cover

The above cover of the NCA’s Development Control Plan 10/8 appears to speak volumes.

There’s a particularly content-lite media release to go with it.

The building height is going to be limited to “RL591” which research (Reusable Leaf Rosette Mould? Soybeans?) suggests is around 5 stories tall.

Comments can be sent to DCP@natcap.gov.au by “7 February 2010” which we can only hope is meant to be 2011 seeing as the release calling for comment is dated “7 December 2010”.

Most NCA DCPs are content lightweights, and yes I’ve found they are generally in response to a development request. Funny – I thought planning was supposed to be PROactive and it was development assessment that was REactive. Makes it hard to claim the moral/objective high ground when it is reactive like this…

I’m no town planner or developer, but wouldn’t it be hard to have a draft DEVELOPMENT plan without a development request? Page 7 of the DCP sets out the process pretty clearly I thought.

I remember the last time it was ‘redeveloped’.

… the old theatre was turned into a pile of bricks overnight after a large amount of mail adverse to the ‘redevelopment’ of the site was received by the then Dept of Territories.

These local redevelopers have ‘form’.

The only thing that was said to have survived was the stair handrail from the theatre which was later fitted, someone said, into one of the Snow brother’s houses.

Five stories eh? Won’t that block the sun from reaching the Franklin Street trendy outdoor cafe strip?

If we let the Liangis mob build enough things, do you reckon they will learn to build things properly the first time, without having to be dragged through court for four years due to building floors with the drain/waste being the highest points? No, not a particular pet peeve of mine, why do you ask?

There goes GU!

I suppose what the NCA is not telling us is that the Liangis family appraoched them to have the variation approved so as to be ablew to redevelop it?
