Manuka Oval - best seating?

This is not ‘news’, I apologise for this up front. But it’s Canberra focussed, and maybe replies can help others?

I am going to take young Ms VBMan (8yo) to the Kangaroos AFl clash on 30 July at Manuka Oval. Will be one of (the??) last chance to see them play here in Canberra.

I have never been to Manuka Oval. I do not know what are the ‘best seats’ in the venue.

Does anyone have any suggestions – or even failing that – what are your thoughts with regards to reserved versus general admission ticketing when it comes to Manuka Oval?

Any thoughts appreciated. Anyone slagging off the mightly Carlton Blues (my team since my childhood, growing up in Vic) are of course, not appreciated.

i cat stand those bogans who bring their own chair and luggage train then prop in the middle of the seating near the fence.

any seat on the wings is good, but the pool end is better as the sun wont get in your eyes. try and get a seat where you can see the video screen.

I have been to Manuka for a few AFL games. If you get general admission prepare to stand for the entire game, unless you get there really early with your own chair.

The uncovered reserved seating is quite good. I would say the south-west corner near the 50m line would be best. You avoid the low sun late in the day and get a good view of the big screen.

Ofcourse my suggestion would be NOT to go at all to this particular game given the Kangaroos’ decision to abandon the Canberra market. The game is also often live on free to air TV.

Good news for you VB is that the Blues may well be forced to play a few games here themselves in the near future …

Carlton vs Essendon game is being shown (on Fox Sports) on the big screen at the Ainslie Football Club this Saturday 22 July. Another Blues fan and myself have been to watch numerous games here now and there is a nice little crowd of Blues fans that seem go along each week like us. Come along and see those mighty Blues keep the stinking Bombers in the spoon possie!

Just get general admission tickets in advance then start at the Kingo a couple of hours before the game.

Stand on the wing (Kingo side). There won’t be a big crowd for this one – easy to see, close to the boozer and the bogs.

If the missus insists on sitting down, get one of those fold up seats from Bunnings ($9.98)and send her down to the ground early to get a spot while you squeeze in a few more schooners at the Kingo.

Don’t wear any Carlton clobber – it will attract ridicule

General seating is fine. I take my kids when I can and could get a family ticket (2 a 2c) for less than $30. Dress for all eventualities, Dont take an umbrella, but it won’t rain (my prediction) and dont forget a hat with a brim, for low sun when in the eastern seating area. Enjoy, might go myself.
