ABC Online has the curious story of the round 11 AFL match between the Kangaroos and Melbourne at Manuka Oval on 05-JUN-05 which has sold out.

Or has it? In fact Foxtel has bought all 9,000 available tickets and is hoping to give them away in the coming weeks.

Anyone got their head around all the angles on this deal?

Evictor was on the money, tickets available from the Clubs on Sunday morning. I called the Labor Club yesterday, and they knew nothing about it…

I imagine the clubs will have plenty of poeple lining up at 10am for a free ticket or 4. And if its cold and rainy on the day, only 5000 people will still turn up…

sunday the 15th was my word up this morning on it.

Thanks for that Growling Ferret. All I’d heard elsewhere was that they were available through selected sports clubs, with no word whatsoever on which clubs.

Still no word on that aflcanberra website as to WHEN the tickets will be available. Oh well.

and successfully runs the gauntlet of Foxtel promoters.

http://www.aflcanberra.com.au for all details…

Free tickets for existing of new Foxtel subscribers.

if this is true i will be pretty bloody pissed off.

how the hell am i and my three interstate comrades supposed to go to the match now!

A ludicrous decision by the manuka oval management.

Very ridiculous. But then again I guess Foxtel need to make a soap opera out of a game that doesnt really transfer to telly well. All the action happens off the ball. Here’s hoping that they hand out free beer to all the fat dudes, so we can see a cascade of fat drunk canberrans doing the macareena.
