Mapping the Christmas lights

We’ve had this helpful message in from Andrew:

Following from the Christmas Lights post a few days ago I put together an idea that’s been rattling around in my head for the past few years – a Crowd Sourced Christmas Lights Map using a free online crowdmap tool.

https://canberraxmaslights2011.crowdmap.com/main

After doing so I actually realised that there are a few others out there but they’re not especially or easy to use or a pain to read through a huge alphabetised list.

People can submit a new report on the website and have it immediately populate on the map and optionally upload photos or link to videos. People can also tweet to @ACTXmasLights or use the hash tag #CanberraXmasLights and the info will be updated later.

If you’ve got pictures of Christmas lights please send them in to images@the-riotact.com .

Not QUITE there just yet, it’s still November according to my calendar…..!!

Farking get over it………

If you take the time to look, Dunlop has about twice as many as Charnwood

Macumba place Kaleen has been missed from that list. It’s one of the better ones for Xmas lights.

Just added it in farnarkler. That’s one of the best things about crowd source mapping. If you see something missing you can just submit a report and have the map updated there and then.
Feel free to comment on lights that you have seen and send in pictures too.
Can someone who knows the address of the picture posted in Theodore add it to the site – thanks.

By the picture above though it looks like Charny is going orf!!!!! Is it a ploy to steal your wheels as you drive past slowly?

Are Christmas lights on the list of “Things Bogon Like” ?

Yeah, Bogong moths love lights, Parliament House gets inundated with the things…….no, wait……

Has this got anything to do with Andrew Leigh’s north side mapping?it sounds like J.B loves imitation!

More money, less joy.

Outstanding. This is going to make daytime aerial bombardment that much easier.

Interesting that the nearer one is to the ANU, the fewer Christmas lights there are…Is there a reverse correlation between Santa attraction and education? The dots look like fallen Rudolf noses to me, which shows I am already going into Christmas hysteria.

That Charny light show isn’t Christmas lights, it’s bogans burning rubbish on their nature strip to avoid tip fees.

Jeremy Clarkson’s description of the Audi R8: “…those LED fairy lamps at the front, they make it look like a Council house at Christmas.”

John, just need to fix the link up by removing the superfluous “https” part…

Great idea though!

Great idea. Just a heads up that the link is broken. It is missing the semicolon after https
