The Master Builders Australia Centenary of Canberra Young Artist Award & Exhibition was launched today by the Centenary of Canberra and Master Builders Australia and will be run as part of the Master Builders National Conference in November .
“This great initiative connects our young artists with the city’s Centenary celebrations,” Executive Director of the Centenary of Canberra Jeremy Lasek said.
“By inviting local artists to recreate an iconic Canberra building or urban landscape, the award will recognise those who designed and built the city over the past 100 years.
“While we’re all connected to the built environment, this competition will show how we each interpret the city we live in differently.”
The competition is open to entrants aged 18-30 and the prize will be awarded on the 14th of November.
The public will be invited to vote for their favourite entry while visiting the exhibition. The People’s Choice Award will be announced during the final week of the exhibition, with the winner receiving a $200 art supplies gift voucher.
Entries should be engaging, creatively considered and high-quality works of 2D or 3D visual art (photography excluded). They must depict aspects of Canberra’s built environment. Delivery of entries will be accepted on Monday 4 November 2013, between 9am-5pm only.
The project is a part of the Centenary of Canberra’s Youth & Artists in Conferencing initiative. For more information, such as competition guidelines, conditions of entry and how to submit a work, visit: www.masterbuilders.com.au or www.canberra100.com.au
