Anus Burger

Big thanks to Dr_na for taking this one from Union Court.

You really think they’d be careful about dropping that apostrophe by now.

Customers certainly be glad of the chips and salad!

dang students these days: misspelt, no apostophe – it’s ‘ploughman ‘ s, fer chrissake… [and they never ate schnitzel rolls…]

Plowman’s is the name of the bakery. Not referring to actual ploughmen.

No ‘apostophe’ is what caught my eye. Interestingly in the context, astrojax is dropping his ‘r’s.

it’s a new thing i’m tying…

[and anyway, i only dopped one…]

yous, astojax 🙂

Just don’t ty it on ed ibbon day…

No wonder a few people on this site call it The University of East Bumcrack.

I’m surprised that no-one seems to have mentioned that the old ANUS joke has been around for decades. Anyone watching, say, an ANU hockey team would hear frequent cries of “come on ANUS”, “force it through there ANUS”. ANUS, stands for ANU Students or any other handy S word.

Branding it an ANUS burger is playing to the in joke, not an error.

ANU Union is run by students, employs students, is owned by students.

The ANU Union, as an organisation, is a student body. However, the shops in the Union building arent anything to do with the students, they are commercial lessees.. There is a Subway (sandwich shop), for example, and I’m pretty sure not owned or run by the students. It may employ some of course.

The Subway is student owned too, the Union owns the franchise.

The full list (http://www.anuunion.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=7&Itemid=2), identifies businesses as either “Union service” or “Tenant Service”

Asian Bistro, Degree, Zambrerro and the Bakery are tenants, all the others are Union owned.

Frankly they should shut them all down and rationalise it into another franchise and an original eatery rather than running a bunch of half arsed efforts.

So tempted to whip out an innuendo but i couldn’t be arsed.

What a bunch of arse!

I hope someone gets to the bottom of this.

Before the sh*t hits the ….er ….pan.

#19 and 20. Surely it’s just the US spelling of Ploughman? So it’s not wrong, or allusive, just seppo.

Colin Plowman – former Academic Registrar of the Australian National University.

I believe that this is a subtle literary allusion to Colin Plowman, onetime academic registrar and Assistant VC at ANU. Or a spelling cockup.

Academic staff are in revolt over the current level of literacy at ANU.

Apostates maybe.

Not to break up a bunch of old people complaining about poor grammar in young people nowdays, but I think you will find someone removed the ‘G’ from the original ‘Angus’ Burger. Less a case of not being able to punctuate and more a case of standard under grad humour

(in any event, why assume a student made the sign when clearly its advertising a store at the ANU, but not run by the ANU).

And you’re obviously so smart aren’t you.

ANU Union is run by students, employs students, is owned by students.

LSWCHP 6:03 pm 06 Nov 12

I studied at the ANU in the early 80’s, and the burgers from the Ref were definitely made from anuses even then. To me, it simply looks like nothing has changed in the last 30 years.
