MEATBEE are thrilled to have received a five figure funding amount from the 2006 ACT Arts Funding Program announced on 23 November 2005 by ACT Chief Minister and Arts Minister John Stanhope.
Upon announcing the 2006 funding, the Chief Minister John Stanhope stated, “Without the kind of vibrant arts community we have here in Canberra, a city simply cannot thrive.” MEATBEE will illustrate that vibrancy, as well as the diversity of the ACT arts community.
The as yet untitled release, likely to be seen in September 2006 is set to include a CD/DVD package which includes new tracks, a number of video clips and a preview of a documentary currently in production which follows the course of MEATBEE and the unfolding of the funded project.
The package will showcase the Canberra Regions talent in the areas of filmmakers, animators and DJs.
Ben Lopez, guitarist of MEATBEE, confirmed that “this funding will enable us to not only showcase what we as a band are capable of, but what is possible when artists across several mediums collaborate on one focused project”.
In other news, MEATBEE have recruited Paroxyst as the new bass player. Paroxyst played his first show with MEATBEE at the Vic on the Park in November to rave review.
